Shekhawati Travel Guide

Shekhawati region of Rajasthan is famous for its magnificent painted Havelis. Built by rich merchants of the region, these Havelis shows a unique style of architecture. Most of the buildings are dated from 18th century to early 20th century. Shekhawati region is also well known as open-air art gallery. Shekhawati Fair: Shekhawati festival is organized by Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, District administrations of Sikar, Jhunjhunun and Churu. It is held on 10th and 11th February every year. The events include a one day tour of the region, camel and jeep safaris, farm visits, rural games, cultural programmes, Haveli competitions and fireworks.
Shekhawati Excursions
Jhunjhunun: This largest town of the region is capital of Shekhawati. The town was founded by the Kayamkhani Nawabs in the mid 15th century AD. Jhunjhunun has some magnificent Havelis.
Nawalgarh: This 18th century town of Shekhawati is famous for its colorful Havelis, forts and palaces. Some prominent Havelis like Anandilal Poddar Haveli, Aath Haveli, and Hodh Raj Patodia Haveli.
Lachhmangarh: Founded in the early 19th century by Raja Lachman Singh of Sikar, the town has some Beautiful Havelis. Lachhmangarh is famous for its fort. It is one of the most imposing forts in the Shekhawati region.
Mandawa: Famous for its 18th century medieval fort, Mandawa is an important town of Shekhawati. The Chokhani and Ladia Havelis are the famous Havelis of Mandawa.
