Tourist Attractions in Jaisalmer The Fort :
The golden hued fort is a sentinel to the bleak desertscape from its 80 meter high perched on a hill,housing the entire ownship with in its ramparts. It has an enchanting cob-web of narrow lanes dotted with some lovely havelis, three beautifully sculptured Jain temples of the 12th-15th century AD and five interconnected palaces. The fort is apporahed through four gateways Akhaiya Pol, Ganesh Pol, Suraj Pol and Hava Pol.

Sam Sand Dunes :

Sand dunes of Rajasthan are as kaleidoscopic as its cities, towns and people. These majestic hills of sand, that are created by the eolien (wind related) processes change their facade with every gush of wind. With an inescapable charm about them, these sand dunes perhaps outweigh the majestic forts and palaces of the state. Lodurva :
LodurvaLodurva, the ancient capital of the Bhattis, is 16 km from Jaisalmer. Its ruins are visited for the great Jain temple and the Kalpataru, a mythical tree of wish fulfillment. Lodurva has a great number of peacocks that hover around the temple walls lending spectacular colour to the dry and stony landscape. Amar Sagar is a grand artificial reservoir for water with a temple and a promenade on the bank that is a lovely place for a picnic.

Akal Wood Fossil Park :
The Akal Wood Fossil Park is a 21-hectare preserved area that takes you back to the Jurassic period when the whole Thar region lay under the sea. Fossilized logs of trees trunks lie exposed to view. Innumerable trunks lie buried deep under sand, 25 are seen and 15 are above the ground. The largest log is seven meters in length and 1.5 meters in width.

Desert National Park :
The Desert National Park, an excellent example of the ecosystem of the Thar Desert and its rich fauna is visited by tourists from all across the world. For observing wildlife in the Desert National Park, the Sudashri forest post is the most ideal place. The terrain of the park consists of sand dunes (form less than 20 percent of the Park), craggy rocks, pavements and compact salt lake bottoms, intermedial areas and fixed dunes.

Once this desert outpost was an important gate for the trade route, and Jaisalmer grew wealthy on the proceeds. But the advent of commercial shipping relegated the town to relative obscurity.

The mansion is one of the most noteable of the array of havelis.

Desert Festival : The Desert Festival is organized by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation at Jaisalmer which goes on for a period of three days. This eventful desert festival of Rajasthan falls in the month of February when lakhs of people from various parts of the world gather in Jaisalmer Rajasthan to become a part of the jubilation. During these three days, the entire city of Jaisalmer resonates with folk music when camel races, folk dances and competitions are conducted to pull the tourists and promote local handicrafts.
